Biography

Spawned by the British invasion and the new wave revolution, Echo Revolution has grown into its own and become something exciting in its own right. The band is honest, flashy - when the alcohol kicks in and the butterflies wear off – and always true to themselves. Combining elements of indie rock, anthemic pop, and beatlesque songwriting, Echo Revolution’s music has been described as “dreamy, alternapop perfection” (Music Matters Magazine) that “ the spirit and the vibe of early U2” (Spendid Magazine). Make no mistake, their sound is more than just their influences.

Recently nominated for a San Diego Music Award, the 5-member band has put out three full-length cd's since 2003. The most recent album, “A Safe Place to Start (2008),” has been spun on nearly 150 college, public and commercial radio stations in the US - CMJ charting on several. While the recorded songs continue to earn notice, it’s their live show that serves notice. Singer/co-founder Lee Harding says “When we get on stage we just want to have fun, let it flow out and give those listening something to take home with them”. Well, a couple of minutes into the set and its clear they have a lot to offer… and the audience is all too happy to take it all in. This is music made not just to entertain, but to lift you up, and add a song to your thoughts, and those listening understand that.

It might be enough to know that Echo Revolution has performed at some of the best venues in Southern California (House of Blues, 4th and B, Belly Up Tavern, UCSD Price Center, Whisky A Go Go and Key Club, to name a few). Perhaps it’s that they have been aired on MTV and had US and international commercial radio play (Germany, England, Russia). But don’t dwell on the band’s resume, just listen to ”Counterfeit Sunshine,” “Open Your Eyes” or “Knapsack" (they have a music video for it) and you will hear it… music that conveys honesty, desire and hope all at the same time.

Currently, Echo Revolution is putting the finishing touches on writing a new EP, to be released in Spring 2010. Echo Revolution recently worked with Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Steve Churchyard (INXS, Louie XIV and Pretenders) on two recently released singles from this EP. They are also about to release their first vinyl, a 7” single for “Counterfeit Sunshine” in October ‘09, after which they will do a west coast mini tour during the same month. The band has already set their sights for 2010 on a tour of the west coast, southwestern US and possibly UK. Although self-managed, drummer/co-founder Nate Schaedler admits “We are very optimistic, but the tours depend on a lot of things… Alex might get sick on Red Vines.”
