new version of purgatory afterglow and the debut album are getting released by century media. with dan swano-made mix and masters . it looks like the CD is remixed and remastered and the LP version is just remastered, unfortunately. he's long been very dissatisfied with Black Mark's edge of sanity LP reissues and has made many public remarks on them. He has also had a very public contentious relationship with labels compressing his albums masters, to the point where he made sure to include the proper master of a Witherscape album on the CD's enhanced portion as WAV files, able to be extracted with a computer. The point is, these reissue should be fine. There is a mention of "Phase 1" so it's possible that the Spectral Sorrows and Unorthodox will be reissued in this style too.

Давным-давно мне доводилось слышать одну их песню, которая понравилась с первых секунд. Не помню точно, как называется. Twilight, мб.

Why though? Those albums just proved that without Dan, the rest of the bandmates can't write music past death metal that was already very generic by the time they came out. Dan is just one of those special songwriters that was perfect for both prog and death metal.

Dan was present for Infernal where he made his last contributions with the band. Cryptic shows the musical talent of the raw sound that the band had when Dan was not present. Infernal imo had some of Dans most personal heart wrenching vibes with the band having been familiar in their time together on how to adapt their music together. Regardless of the normal opinion Infernal and Cryptic are both gems.

Still, 85K listeners by a band that plays (played) progressive death metal, which is a form of extreme metal, is pretty good. I mean, prog death from the 90s isn't up there with the likes of more mainstream acts in terms of interest or publicity.

I remember a friend of mine let me copy Purgatory Afterglow from an LP into a tape when this first came out. I happened to use a black tape. After that, my siblings would make fun of me "he is listening to the black tape again". It's 2021, so that's 14 years later, the album is still amazing.

I wish the Years Active on here was true, but Dan Swanö decided to end it in 2003.

Fantastic band, split up at the right tim as well. What a legacy of albums they have left behind in their discography! Truly a band of it's time and there shall most likely be no band like them ever again. We do not need another reunion. Let the past be the past, what we've got now is more than perfect!
