Biography
Edwin Rosen is a phantom – at least, if you're searching for an electronic footprint of the young musician. Even though the obligatory Spotify and Soundcloud accounts exist, there are hardly any indications that suggest songs like 'leichter//kälter' or 'Die Sonne in deinem Zimmer' are truly a product of human creativity. Even on Instagram, the artist remains reserved, sharing few private details. Instead, his feed is filled with 80s band shirts, analog photography, and New Wave cover videos. Visually, Edwin Rosen clearly indicates the particular attention he pays to the musical decade. However, he refuses to be pigeonholed, promptly creating the genre 'neueneuedeutschewelle' in his Spotify information, which couldn't more accurately describe Edwin Rosen's sound. With his debut single 'leichter//kälter,' the musician delivered a melancholic 80s-inspired post-punk song at the beginning of the year, which, despite its driving drums and melodic synthesizers, exudes energy. In it, he deals with an increasingly colder and more distant state of a relationship, capturing the cool atmosphere of a gray autumn/winter day. 'Oh, it's cold / But you say it's easier for you / Yes, I'm supposedly much colder / So you stand still / Stay barefoot in the snow / Ah damn, it's so cold.
