Biography

Ell/Nikki (formerly, Eldar & Nigar) is Azeri music duo consisting of singers Eldar Gasimov (Ell) and Nigar Jamal (Nikki). They won the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 on 14 May for Azerbaijan with their entry "Running Scared" which was the country's first win in the contest, which meant that Azerbaijan has the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. They were the first mixed-gender duo to win the contest since 1963.

Gasimov and Camal took part in the Azerbaijani national selection for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, Milli Seçim Turu 2011. They qualified from the semi-finals along with three other artists to the final on 11 February 2011, where they won the right to represent Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, which they won. Their song "Running Scared" is written by Swedish songwriters Stefan Örn, Sandra Bjurman and Iain Farguhanson. They are also authors of the song "Drip Drop", which represented Azerbaijan at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010.

Nigar Camal, born on 1 September 1980 in Baku, Azerbaijan, is an Azeri singer, currently living in London, United Kingdom, since 2005. In 2001, she graduated from the Khazar University, majoring in economics and management. She is married and has two daughters.

Eldar Qasımov was born in Baku on 4 June 1989. In 2010, he graduated from the Baku Slavic University, with a double major in international relations and regional studies, and has since been a graduate student of international relations at the same university
