It's in 5/4 and 4/4 at the same time. It's actually 5 over 4 in the choruses and fairly brilliantly done through some MPC trickery. You can count 5 and 4 all the way through pretty naturally.

Indeed ... you really can count it through on 4/4. I'm not into music theory and you seem to be playing drums, so I guess you are right. But it's really hard to hear :P.

....Holy SH*T! Where the F*K did this track come from???? The beat! The lyrics! The flow! The time signature! This is more of the kinda stuff I expected on Relapse! Where's the Proof track?!Where's the serious inrtospective gaze at the downward spiral into drugs!? We Want More!

Glad the accent is less noteworthy in this. I mean could tolerate it, but srsly. Also, lolcockboy.

@scarred1928 : you both are ride. The beat is changing in the chorus. But I think it's 3/4. Like in a waltz: !1!, 2, 3, !1!, 2, 3 ... ;)

awesome that everybody else is getting into this too! this song is the most compelling on relapse. dre's intriguing beat slinks alongside em's fascinating lyrics. why am i thinking an edited version of this would go top 10 lol. by far my favorite! did you catch the lyrics i transcribed for the last bars? amazing...

noo_dog: This song is in straight 4/4 - the snare hits on beat 3 every measure. It's just an odd feel thanks to the kick downbeats.

damn this track & em's lyrics come hard!!! without a doubt my favorite on the cd now. damn em...what a way to end the decade. britney & beyonce's lock on artist of the decade is slipping away. eminem is back to remind us that he's the unparalleled king of hip hop wordplay & the 00s most talented artist

I hope this album inspires other rappers to step up their game and do magic tricks with their rhymes.

damn! i can't remember hearing anyone come harder than "insanity/can it be vanity/where's the humanity in having a twisted fantasy/with an arm & leg amputee/straight jacket with 108 brackets/and i strap the wraps twice around my back & then they latch it/cut your effin head off and ask where you headed off to/get it "headed off to"/medic, this headache's awful/this anesthetic's pathetic/ and so's this diabetic waffle/and this prosthetic arm keeps crushing my hard taco!" genius

If this is an introduction of what's to come on Relapse 2 that album will be fucking legendary.
