Biography

Singer-songwriter, spoken wordsmith, and producer may be accurate nouns when touting the artist known as EVRYWHR (pronounced Everywhere), but ‘music visionary’ may be more of a complete and veracious term. It’s because the music of EVRYWHR embodies an eclectic brand of R&B/Pop with its cinematic-orchestral like feel.
EVRYWHR is gearing up for the spring ‘17 release of his EP, titled Shannon, a project written and recorded in tribute to his fiancé (Shannon Kane) and their newborn child. It is flanked by its two singles, “Mother to Be” and “Flower of Life,” the latter featuring rapper/lyricist Kos. The EP also contains the song “Purple In Blues,” a poetic anthem that essentially has EVRYWHR reciting his pre-marital vows. There’s also “I Am Here,” which for better or worse, has the artist declaring that his love is everlasting. “This EP comes from a very honest and intimate place,” says EVRYWHR. “In sharing my life with my listeners, I find that I’m in a very vulnerable, personal and introspective space.”
This mark of love and new life is no more evident than in the beautifully composed song, “Mother to Be.” Lyrically, it’s what every expectant mother longs to hear… “Your body’s changing everyday / So when you don’t feel sexy baby / Let me be the first to tell you / You’re beautiful / And when emotions seem to sway / I’m yours no matter what you say / I know the sacrifice you go through / For this life inside of you.”
Shannon displays EVRYWHR’s growth and maturity both as an artist and as a man. It is the follow-up to his 2013 independent debut, titled TWO, an 11-song rhapsodic album with four interludes that at the time were autobiographical in nature and admittedly about EVRYWHR’s relationships with women. TWO stands for “This Woman’s Opposition, That Woman’s Opportunity.” Both Shannon and TWO are co-produced by EVRYWHR, and his longtime collaborator Blair Taylor.
EVRYWHR (birth name Michael Jefferson) was born and raised in Port Huron, Michigan to a loving working-class family. His parents have been married for over 40 years. EVRYWHR’s love and obsession for all things music began at the age of 5, when he would sit next to his dad on the family sofa listening to old Stax and Motown records, while engulfing himself in the sounds of artists like Curtis Mayfield, Michael Jackson and New Edition. By age 9, EVRYWHR starting singing, and at 14 wrote his first song.
EVRYWHR attended Western Michigan University, where he would earn his degree in Sales & Business Marketing. His real dream though was to make it as a songwriter and recording artist. In 2010, he made a bold move to Los Angeles. “If you’re gonna work, you have to be at the office,” he says. “The move was the biggest decision I ever made because I knew no one in Los Angeles, and I would truly be on my own.”
EVRYWHR wasted no time getting acclimated to the big city, by networking and meeting influential people who could assist in pursuing his goals. He started collaborating with a number of emerging Pop artists like Leona Lewis, Mila J and Aaron Carter. He would eventually go onto co-write two songs entitled “Confessions” and “Violence” for the 2013 Grammy-winning album Gravity, performed by Gospel rapper Lecrae. In addition to his rising music career, EVRYWHR recently shot a pilot in the country of Cambodia, for a TV show tentatively titled Destination EVRYWHR. The forthcoming series will have EVRYWHR taking trips to various countries around the globe to explore and discuss culture, bridge gaps, and make music with the locals.
