F R DOUBLE E
© 2006 Extra
Commune Records (released 12/12/06)

Recorded during 2005 and 2006 at home entirely by Jim Mills, except keyboard solo on "The Medley" recorded at the Psyche Lab. All songs, instruments (drums, guitar, piano, bass, flute, organ, synthesizer, tympani, gong, other percussion, kitchen sink – many of which were borrowed from friends), and singing by Jim Mills.

"Free in Time" is for Jason Muller. I'd rather have this song than that gig.

After spending time in Drill Team and Wondermints in the '90s, Mills spent the early '00s listening largely to sound effects records and avoiding rock music, and reorganizing his head. When it was time to get back to work, this is what came out.

"Extra … is undoubtedly the sum of many musical influences (Brian Wilson, Bowie, Pink Floyd to name but a few), but Mills obviously possesses enough musical nous to produce an album that avoids the derivative label. It's a world where sweeping rock chords meet outlandish orchestral pop all wrapped up in one gorgeous harmony after the next. While there's a serious amount of complexity at play, you'll find no need for repeat listens to get into this one."
- Jen Paterson, Oyster Magazine

"An epic new album"
- Glyn Bowerman, Two-Way Monologues

"Perhaps Mills should have made two or three EPs rather than cramming all of his interests onto one disc."
- Josh Spilker, Wonkavision Magazine

"Killer songs and playing throughout."
- Marc Weinstein, Music We Like (Amoeba Records magazine)
