This could have been written in 1066, for all I know. Such a beautiful and timeless sound, and the lyrics are incredibly dreamy

Amazing that Richard Thompson could write songs like this that sound like traditional English folk tunes (unless the melody actually IS taken from a traditional song?)

One of the most heartbreaking songs I've ever heard, made worse by the fact that Sandy died so young. A masterpiece.

This is definitely the original álbum versión I'm getting here. BTW, had this on the brain for weeks...

Whichever version, this is still a very wonderful, atmospheric and haunting song.

I recognize the voice. One of my favorites. This version is definitely Sandy Denny.

I'm getting the Simon Nicol live version here, and although I prefer Sandy this is still wonderful.

I think the reason for the confusion is that sometimes this song choice plays the Sandy Denny version, and sometimes it is being sung by a man; even though it still SAYS it's the Liege and Lief version, it clearly isn't! Anyway I really like the male vocal version I've just heard - great.

June39- If you are hearing what I am hearing, this version is Sandy Denny, although there are a gazillion versions of this song, each awesome. And Henriette77 - Fairport are well and truly Ebglish/British.
