i agree, new vocals feel less agressive, but new vocalist has higher vocal range and is not bad at lives

Why the hell is Dreamless (the song) so popular? All of these amazing tech/prog masterpieces, and then an ambient interlude is stuck on their top 5?

For those who care -- from Antonio Palermo's FB page: "As of November of 2021, I was let go from Fallujah because I guess my severe depression and poor mental health was making certain members very impatient. Over a decade long friendship had subsequently ended after I had begun to get better and we decided to press on, when I was abruptly fired with only three songs left to finish. I feel like I've been betrayed by someone I considered to be my best friend, and am sorry I won't have the chance to show you guys how much better this album could have been."

That's shitty to hear, I do feel for the guy. I'm a believer that going into business ventures with friends will always end up in a bitter situation sooner or later. But pity aside, I wasn't a fan of Antonio's vocals and his sole album is most likely forever gonna be the black sheep of their discography. If anything I think they kind of did him dirty from the start, putting him in that spot to begin with. He wasn't the right choice of voice and it showed. Kyle is a way better fit imo, but I'd still prefer Alex.

I always thought of it as their equivalent to Celtic Frost's Cold Lake, but those work too. Inevitable.

Even though Spotify is hellbent on putting it over The Flesh Prevails even though the top song from it has barely any plays compared to masterpieces like Sapphire or Carved from Stone

Undying Light was a shitfest with one of the worst vocalist ever. "Empyrean" is definitely a return to form!

big step up and return to form, very good album. a little too long on the whole, but the penultimate song was incredible

Empyrean is much more like it, and while I'm not blown away by it in the same way I was when I first heard The Harvest Wombs or The Flesh Prevails, it's definitely way better than UL and probably better or at least same level as Dreamless, though I still miss Alex's vocals and influence on songwriting (especially on the softer tracks, which are still some of my favorite things Fallujah has done).

This is weird. Like they want to pretend Undying Light never existed and continue where Dreamless left off. Same cover artist and they even brought the ladies back for guest vocals. The two new songs sound promising.

Their upcoming album "Empyrean" releases on September 9. They also have a new vocalist (again) as well as a new bass player, not to mention the second guitarist they recently got is already gone. The new single sounds like a promising return to form (where "Dreamless" left off) but what's up with their inconsistent line-ups?

if Alex comes back in vocal duty, then I will be interested. Otherwise I will be sleeping on any future releases for the time being.

It's so good to finally see Dreamless grow in listeners and get the recognition it deserves. So many people were complaining about it and comparing it to The Flesh Prevails back in 2016. Now I see a lot more praise for it.

Got to see em open for Devin Townsend and Between the Buried and Me. They blew my girl and I away. the mix could be a little better in the sense that the guitars need a little more presence and the drums just need a little less, so the mix is balanced. They kick ass live though and they transitioned from Deathcore to Death Metal quite well.

That tour came by here and I really wanted to see it, especially as "Transcendence" was my favorite DTP album (and aoty in 2016). I don't remember why I ended up not going, but missing out on that gig is definitely something I'm still bitter about.

Fallujah and DTP were awesome. BTBAM sounded great, but they stood like statues... still more entertaining than Cynic live tho.

Scott Carstair's clips on Facebook all sound like more of the celestial F-Zero glory that defined TFP and Dreamless, so maybe the next album won't be generic 2010s metalcore shite.

Listening to them for the first time over the past couple of days and I think I actually prefer their new stuff. But maybe that's just because I prefer the style, even if some may argue it's not as imaginative. Will have to listen many more times before I can really give a proper opinion of course.

"Sanctuary" is the only song on the new album that caught my attention. The rest feels uninspired and the new singer doesn't fit at all.

New singer is absolute garbage, songwriting is lazy and boring, I don't know if I can even make it through this new CD. Wtf happened to the band that made The Flesh Prevails?

The Flesh Prevails and Nomadic is where Fallujah are at their very best. Period.

Those were absolutely top notch. Sadly, it seems those are the only material of that quality they'll ever make.

totally agree. Nomadic was life changing for me. Flesh Prevails was nomadic in album form. Absolutely amazing. Nobody sounds like that. Since then, its been a slow decline. Last light was ok. but man the new vocalist just can't do it. I saw them live for the first time this year with white chapel at The press room Arizona. They did good. but they only played one old song. The void alone. And the singer really struggled with the deep parts. He has good high pitch. but he can't play the low growls like hoffman. Sucks.

New album feels like an even bigger dip in the song-writing quality. I've listened to the album like three or four times, and I cannot recall a single riff, melody or part. It's not really bad or anything, it's just unmemorable and mediocre, which isn't helped by the new vocalist, who sounds supremely cookie-cutter average. *Sigh* I recall thinking around the time when The Flesh Prevails came out that "now here's a band to watch, these guys are really doing something special". Oh, how wrong I was.

I take back some of my criticism for the new album. It's not as mediocre as I initially felt. After a few spins it's actually not all that bad. I still miss a lot of the prog/electronic elements of "Dreamless" in particular, but there's still a lot of cool Fallujah riffs in there and a nice atmosphere. I really think the new album is best heard in its entirety rather than picking a few songs at a time. The new vocals will def take some time getting used to, though.

Новый вокалист несколько утомляет однообразным скримингом, но в целом, "Undying Light" хороший альбом. Думал, будет много хуже, но нет. Атмосфера двух предыдущих альбомов не совсем пропала.

Really enjoying "Undying Light", just as I did with Fallujah's previous albums. Will probably end up towards the top of the "Best of" list at the end of the year, I'm sure.

Is it really that different? To me it's just as monotonous as Dreamless, which I've always deemed as overrated. Perhaps I even like this one more, not sure yet. New vocalist kinda sounds like Lindberg... I don't see what's so bad about that. They'll never release another The Harvest Wombs anyway.

After listening to the new record on my Hifi-Stereo at home and on the way to work, it grows more and more on me. Not the best Fallujah record but not as bad as the "Deathcore" Ep they have.

nearly unlistenable. And Fallujah is my favorite tech death band. I'm okay with the new direction they're taking but I will probably just keep listening to their middle three albums.

Yes~ I can't believe that they made TLC. also the new album Is not that bad, or it's still good (the music) actually. I still don't like the vocals tho. well that's just my opinion.

Discovered this band many years ago! But god damn. Why didn't I gave them a good listen ? I'm fucking impressed by all of their music! One of the finest Modern Atmospheric Prog/tech death bands I have heard. Can't get enough of "dreamless" album! Awesome stuff!
