Biography

Originally conceived in 2007, the band started life with drummer Mark Keiller, guitarist/vocalist Fraser Stewart and their old school friend Allan Mitchell on bass. After releasing their debut album Mindless Crap in 2010 followed by their EP DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! and single Willy Wonka And The Charlie Factory, Mitchell left the band and was swiftly replaced by Kevin Black of Dundee underground post-rock greats Laeto. Stud is the fruit of the band's collective labour.

Having already played with Chemikal Underground's Holy Mountain, Japanese noise band Tacobonds, METZ and appearances at Go North and Wickerman, the Scottish Alternative Music Awards opening ceremony (where they were nominated for Best Alternative Rock Act in 2013) and many a headline show, the band will take Stud on the road in 2013 with dates planned throughout April, May and beyond.

"You'll be none the wiser by the end of it all, but much richer for stumbling into Fat Goth's odd little universe" (KKKK - Kerrang, January 2013)

"STUD is profoundly uneasy listening at its best, and weirdo freaks everywhere should love it."
(8/10 - Rocksound, January 2013)

"Stud is a heavy as fuck album which goes some way to injecting a bit of danger back into UK rock music" (4/5 - Artrocker, February 2013)

"With this as their latest calling card, Fat Goth should have no problem becoming an in-demand ticket."
(4/5 - The Skinny, January 2013)

"as an introduction to the pun-happy, riff-heavy world of Fat Goth, Stud is an invitingly vigorous place to start." (7/10 - Drowned In Sound, February 2013)

"Stud is an exciting, pummelling slab of top-notch beef"
(Rock-A-Rolla, February 2013)

"it’s heartening to unearth some true underdog oddballs from a dark corner of Britain. Fat Goth, we salute you."
(BBC Album Reviews, January 2013)

"…the most exciting thing to come out of Dundee in many a year"
(Terrorizer, January 2013)

"Great name, and a bit more irreverent fun besides"
(Q, January 2013)

"Excellent album of thunderstruck-hardcore, hollering-pop and countrified-rock‘n’roll"
(4/5 - The List, January 2013)

"This is visceral, intelligent, misanthropic, no-holds-barred rock music"
(Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland Album Of The Week)
