Can't believe it's been more than 10 years since Regnum Saturni. All their stuff has aged really well imo, a shame that the project seems to have been abandoned.

Anyone know where I can find a download of their Self-Titled? Can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Regnum Saturni honestly fucking rips. It has this almost Clair Cassis -type crispyness to it that is very hard to replicate. And it sometimes is heavily reminiscent of newer Black Cilice. So happy to have found this through Yu Rim Chung's artwork.

During the recent European tour with AB/Vanum, I asked Mike about the current status of Fell Voices and, yeah, they already recorded 40 mins of new stuff, so get ready for it.

Can we hope for a new album this year, do you think? Hard to believe it's been almost five years since Regnum, particularly since they used to release a new album every year. Thanks for the update BTW

I know as much as you do. I realize now that my comment is now two years old and yours has 11 months. And there's no new update on Fell Voices, which sucks, because I'd love to hear that new record. At least, Vanum, Vilkacis, Yellow Eyes or Ash Borer (plus the Vrasubatlat projects) have been releasing stuff.

Michael Rekevics from this band, Ruin Lust, Vanum, Sleepwalker, etc. is in Vorde, yes. I don't see any indication that Fell Voices has broken up, though. I too hope for new material soon. We're due for new stuff from both them and Ash Borer at this point.

Yeah, the first three albums have really clean production for black metal. You can even hear the bass pretty well. The production of Regnum isn't even that sketchy apart from the first song.

"This is just a bunch of losers recording guitars in their parents basement with amps and mics under a pile of rags and blankets." - Clearly doesn't understand the concept of "DIY mentality". Apart from that; the recording quality isn't even that sketchy.. It is not like this is in the vein of Zarach Baal Tharagh. Fell Voices are top of the bill, you just need to let it in.

Um has he never listened to black metal before or... because I'm pretty sure most second-wave bm sounded like it was recorded in a cave with equipment from the 70's. Their most recent album had a much crappier sound to it, but there's not much to complain about on the first/second records in terms of production values.

I somehow hope there won't be a new album as they'll never be able to top Regnum Saturni. That album is the best I've had on my turntable in like 10 years or so...

Every once in awhile I go awhile without listening to these guys, and I inevitably regret it, because everything they've released is unbelievably good. This music has become an inescapable part of myself. I hope we don't have to wait another three years for their next album, but if it's as good as everything they've released so far, it'll be worth it.

I don't really know Fell Voices, only the name. I just came to see what happens when a band that releases loads of untitled songs gets scrobbled on Last.fm.

Regnum Saturni is a killer record. Definitely my new favorite item in their discography.

In case anyone missed it, btw, Gilead released 24-bit FLAC of the album on their Bandcamp today. Pay what you want.

just got it in from Gilead and the production is definitely very muddy but I don't find the album unenjoyable by any means because of that. with that being said, I don't think it's their best work to date though certainly not disappointing. it did come with a download code, so I'm sure the 320 rip will be floating around soon.

That faint production is one of the great aspects about Regnum Saturni, something which certainly makes it different. It amuses me that people are looking for "a better rip" or something...

I kind of liked the sound of the rip that is floating around the internet. The sound quality is so crappy that you have to turn the volume up considerably and you got to really harken to the record. Maximum raw would be a nice plan but in fact the rip is just extremely poor.
