Fflaps are a Welsh language post-punk band. Formed in the late 80's by vocalist and guitarist Ann Matthews, bassist Alan Holmes and drummer Jonny Evans. Between April 1987 and August 1992, Fflaps travelled the length and breadth of Europe. Performing their enthusiastic brand of punk to mostly uninterested audiences whilst singing to them in a language most of them didn't understand a word of! A 7" EP and three full length LPs were released during their time, and the group also recorded two Peel sessions at the BBC's Maida Vale studio in London, as well as appearing regularly on Welsh language TV. The group came to an end in 1992 when drummer Jonny left to pursue academic studies, his subsequent untimely death in 2001 firmly ruling out any possibility of the obligatory embarrassing reunion tour. However, Ann Matthews and Alan Holmes formed the vastly different sounding, 1990s space rock band Ectogram from (1993 - the present).
