not bad. although I would have chosen the name "Feet Foxes" as I think that name is much funnier for a band

I like how the global scrobble count goes up as soon as an autumn breeze blows in

Ando pelo metros de sp sempre ouvindo eles e me imaginando saindo dessa cidade horrível e morando em uma casinha no campo bem longe de TD mundo apenas eu e a musica

When I saw them live for the first time last year, Robin Pecknold answered every single question shouted by the crowd, no matter how tedious. I didn't know he did that, and I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it at a show - but it was definitely endearing.

I'm sorry but this just sounds like the music they'd play in those "Inspirational" car commercials.

More like "coffee shop core" music. There was once a time in the early 2010's where you'd be hard-pressed to find a Starbucks that wasn't playing 'White Winter Hymnal', along with select Bon Iver and Iron & Wine tunes. The Toyota commercial came much later.

I've been trying but I just can't get into Shore. I think it's average compared to their other efforts, and it's questionable if it can be called a "Fleet Foxes" album with only one member. In my opinion it should have been a solo record instead. But a lot of people seem to enjoy it, so that's good. Maybe I'll appreciate it with time.

this one is nothing mind-blowing but it's still a pretty simple and chill listen. Perfect for a ride

Robin's the sole songwriter, so I doubt that would change significantly, although they do accompany him well. I think there are more filler tracks than on other releases as well but if you give it time, I can't imagine you won't enjoy half the songs or so - like "I'm not my season", "Sunblind", or "Featherweight".

Obviously it's Robin's band/project, but I think they have great chemistry together, proven by how live versions of old songs such as Mykonos are much better than the original studio version. As a unit I would argue that they peaked when Tillman was in the band, no matter how toxic that relationship later became. Are there other great musicians out there that could do their job? Definitely and it could still be good, but it won't be the same. That said, I have listened more to Shore now and as you said it has grown on me a bit. I still think it's the weakest FF album and the only song I find myself returning to often is "I'm not my season" (which is great) but it has definitely improved.

Y'know, I've felt similar about Fleet Foxes. I like every release, but there was something in that first album that increasingly dissolved as the albums progress. The first album had an out-of-time feeling. The writing and recording was more simple, but it sounded like it could have been recorded in the 70s, written in the 1670s. This weird old english pastoral feeling permeated that whole first album. Helplessness Blues was a much more personal album. It still had that sound, but more polished and complicated. Crack-up for me lost that entire first album vibe, but had such incredible compositions that I forgave it and have accepted it as good as the rest. Shore seems to be trying to touch that old feeling, but its gone. The songs aren't bad but literally nothing stands out. No ear worms. The first 3 albums had moments that stuck with me and never left. Shore goes in and out, which I accept as just a good, warm album to put on in the background.

Agreed. I liked how they expanded on the sound of the first record on HB. I haven't listened to Crack Up in a long time, gonna give it a go again. Yeah and the question for me is, why would I listen to a Fleet Foxes album that mostly just works as background music when the others are so much better? I would pick any of the others over Shore any day of the week. I do not really believe this "I've always been the band it's just that I never said it before" thing from Robin either. You can contribute more than just songwriting to make a band great. Skylers guitar is such an integral part of FF and HB and it's really missing on Shore.

They have no right to be distributing so much eargasmic material in every perfectly crafted release.
