The top two comments on this shoutbox being about religious experiences through music and wanting to shove this album up ones ass is truly the full breadth and scope and power of this album.

Listening to this album counts as going to church. Seriously, it's a religious experience.

Just almost perfect. Pecknold told that he wanted the album to sound with a free spirit like Astral weeks from van morrison, Fleet foxes really did an amazing emotional job, one of the best albums from this century for me, can't ask more, they wanted to sound like my favorite album ever, Astral. Fleet foxes really captured that pastoral fresh feel...

Incredible, evocative album. It gave the folk genre a fresh sound and influenced the sound of newer bands in the following years.

Absolutely gorgeous, Fleet Foxes is yet another one of those cases where the first album of a band is their best. Now don't get me wrong, the later releases are stellar as well but this debut always sits in its own tier. Harmonies and catchy instrumentation with decent lyrics, this is what 9/10 albums are made out of.

One of the best albums created on this planet. I think it's bigger than Dark Side of The Moon, In Rainbows or anything else.

It's impossible to pick a favourite song out of this masterpiece. Every song is as beautiful and unique as a Monet painting.

@mordwyr: I'm not sure if you're trying to insult Fleet Foxes or Mumford and Sons.

Does anyone else enjoy hiking to this? For me it's the perfect soundtrack to accompany a leisurely walk through mountains/forests/parks, etc. Definitely an ideal sunrise album!

Here's a free-to-download album that sounds a lot like this one and is surprisingly about as good: http://blackatlantic.bandcamp.com/album/the-black-atlantic-reverence-for-fallen-trees-2009 (honest recommendation, I'm totally not affiliated)

I've always really loved this album, but I'm still convinced Helplessness Blues trumps it. This is more poppy than folky in comparison. And HB is more folky in the traditional sense.. which is what I prefer as far as "folk" music goes.
