Stefanie just released her album with Behind Your Fear and yes, it's amazing. Every FT fan will love it. It also made me realize Oceans of Slumber is actually pretty similar to Flowing Tears

Argh, it's so disgusting they exist no more. In my opinion, they were the best definition of a gothic metal band with female vocalist, the same way bands like Type O Negative, Tiamat, Moonspell and Paradise Lost are, and they should have more attention than some similar bands had (Lacuna Coil, Beseech). Like those classic bands, Flowing Tears had some different elements in their music, but first and foremost they were a gothic metal band and they have to be recognized as a classic band in the genre too.

Indeed. Flowing Tears was so unique. There were/are many nice similar bands to them like Lacuna Coil, Beseech, Mortal Love and Bloodflowerz, but none as good (in my opinion).

I don't think this a matter of labeling them gothic or not. Factually speaking, they fit in every aspect of what gothic rock/metal is

I mostly don't like female vocals. Also, I don't like tagging any female-leaded metal as "symphonic". Also, I don't like tagging every "pseudo-symphonic" metal as "gothic". But well, here I really like just everything and can agree it's gothic and symphonic metal. Great band for sure.

There's nothing symphonic in this band. I don't understand where this perception and the tag come from

Well, I can understand it. But if you take similar bands like Beseech, Lacuna Coil or even Mortal Coil, there's a lot of keyboards too, but they're not symphonic at all (at least not to me). But maybe my perception of what is symphonic metal (Epica, After Forever, Nightwish) is wrong.

Yeah, this is why I wrote "I don't like tagging any female-leaded metal as "symphonic"." in main post - Beseech is gothic metal, Lacuna Coil similarly. Honestly, I even have doubts with saying your Epica or Nightwish being symphonic metal - it's for me more like female-voiced power metal with symphonic elements - but this would also relate to Flowing Tears. My most perfect and undoubtely examples of symphonic metal are Carach Angren or Septic Flesh, honestly, as they use even live violins (whole orchestra!), and female voices are built into choirs, not building the whole structure of the songs. Most impressive example? "Prototype" by Septic Flesh. But I'm still thinking about Epica/Nightwish, maybe I'm not fair with rejecting their 'being-full-symphonic'. It's hard to say for me by far.

Thanks for sharing! Not the biggest fan of the first song they shared but it's cool to know we'll hear her voice on something else.

Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to get another Flowing Tears album. But Helen did say on Facebook that she's working on something and that Flowing Tears fans would probably like it.

"Our world needs a band like this." Agreed. I've yet to find a band that sounds quite like they do. So there's no one to fill that void in Flowing Tears's absence.

I wish they would rerelease their older albums. I would love to get my hands on Joy Parade. It's the only one of their albums I haven't been able to find.

I hope they don't end up completely calling it quits (due to lost momentum?). They've been one of my favorite bands for a good nine or ten years.

What a great band. So sad they are on hiatus. Thy Kingdom Gone is one of the best gothic metal albums I've ever heard.

Actually, what she said was that the band is on a hiatus but they may go back to recording albums and touring some day... still miss them though, I can't believe it's already been more than 5 years since the last one! And I would really like to see them live some day, but it's highly unlikely that it happens because I don't think they've ever toured outside Europe :(

If they are, it hasn't been formally announced. I wish there was some sign of life from the Flowing Tears camp...
