Floating Feather is the debut release of Fox and the Bird, a folk/rock band based in Dallas, Texas. The 11 tracks on the album were written and performed by a rotating cast of five songwriters that came together in 2009. The songs on this album are poetically simple but musically complex, with a seemingly timeless quality to the songwriting.
The album blends guitar-based compositions with folk and orchestral instrumentation to create roots music with resonance. The band transforms into a small folk choir to perform these songs, with gang vocals and layered harmonies. It's communal.
Floating Feather represents the early years of Fox and the Bird. The album was painstakingly recorded and CD books were stitched together by hand.
