So true, the only thing that makes it kinda noticeable that it's a compilation is the difference in the drum sound between the two EPs

Really great compilation of their early tracks, these tracks are one of their most catchy ones, really nice choruses and Ian was handling it nicely with just one guitar. I wonder why Guy didn't play guitar straight from the beginning, since he was already a nice guitar player at this point after his amazing work as a member of Rites of Spring a few years before this.

I remember reading that he was a bit tired of playing guitar and they wanted to incorporate him as, and he wanted to be, sort of a Flava Flav style "hype man" for the band and the live shows, dancing and doing backup vocals and so forth. As much as I enjoy this early material, I'm really glad they thought better of that particular plan and he picked up the guitar, because I think the growth displayed beginning with the sound of Repeater, and the influence that it had on so-called Post-Hardcore and what would come to be known as "Alt. Rock" is incalculable. And more importantly the music rules and the added guitar, as with their subsequent embrace of Dub-style production techniques, brought an entirely new element to their art.

For the longest time I thought THIS was their debut LP and I put it on all my all-time favorite lists and now I'm decidedly disappointed. Haha. That's all good though. End Hits and Repeater are certainly up to snuff and have always made it on my lists. Just daaammn.... my universe shattered a bit when I found out it was a COLLECTION of EPs.

Lots of great songs on this compilation but Fugazi with just one guitar is like a whole different band than the more mature two guitars lineup.

I will never forget seeing fugazi on this tour - one of the best albums of all time!

Nigh on 5 and a half years after I first scrobbled them, I'm beginning to 'get' the Fugazi thing. This album is growing on me in leaps and bounds.

This surprisingly took me a while to get into (Repeater got me into them) but after several listens this is truly a significant album! (well two eps)

Waiting Room, Bad Mouth, Give Me The Cure, Suggestion, Glue Man, Margin Walker, Provisional, Promises are my fav tracks on it. But this is not their best, the songs sound much better live, specially Glue Man.

I still have yet to listen to a lot of this album, but I agree that it can be a great album, but you don't like all the songs. I've been hearing about this album for years, and I'm just now checking it out.

Maybe not the best, but I agree with wezman2k that it's the one I'd give someone to introduce them to Fugazi.

this one is the best because it's the most accessible. the later albums are good but a little too spaced out and experimental for my tastes.

@ElectricRowboat it's the best fugazi album because it is their most definitive album. it's a good document that bridges hardcore to post hardcore. whether or not the best songs are on the album is always up for debate but if i was gonna introduce someone to fugazi it'd probably be 13 songs. i'm not even saying it's my favorite album...but it's their best one, got me? :P

I don't see why everyone thinks this is the best Fugazi album. The songs just don't sound as good - the first two EPs are songs written to be played live. There isn't much influence from Guy yet, his second guitar brought a lot to their later recordings. The songs are good, just they seem more simplistic for being eary on in their career.

Oh my. I love this. By that I mean *love*. I might have to reassess my Fugazi album ordering. This always used to be right at the bottom, but holy fuck YES!

The best part of Fugazi is the originality of their album names... not really. But, this band is awesome, so they're forgiven.
