Released alongside “Over Your Head” on Uzi’s 26th birthday, “Patek” is one of two songs speculated to serve as the lead-singles to Future and Uzi’s forthcoming collaborative album.
The track’s title is a nod to Swiss luxurious watch manufacturer Patek Philippe, for which both artists have expressed their fondness before, with Uzi releasing a single named “New Patek” in 2018 and Future including a track named “Patek Water” to his 2017 SUPER SLIMEY mixtape with Young Thug.
The song was initially previewed through DJ Akademiks live-stream two days before the tracks were released. The tracks' title was later confirmed a few hours prior to the release in an accidental promotion via streaming platforms.
