Robert "Fuzz" Townshend was born on 31 July 1964.

Fuzz was the drummer of Pop Will Eat Itself from 1991 onwards.

He's been a drummer since the age of ten, has worked as a bus mechanic, truck driver, college lecturer, landcape gardener and used to own a bar in Digbeth, Birmingham called The Rainbow until 2005.

He lives in and works from Bishop's Castle, Shropshire. Before the Poppies he'd been in a huge number of bands including General Public, Pig Bros and Kirk's Equator with whom he recorded a hilarious guitar/techno pop single "On the run from a Mormon death squad."

With the demise of PWEI he became part of the Bentley Rhythm Ace live set-up and also released his own white label 12", "Hello darlin," He has 2 albums on US label Stinky Records and he has also played alongside Ranking Roger(who appeared on Fuzz's debut), formerly of The Beat. Now working with Pama International, Vileevils, Jean Robert Jovenet, Modified Toy Orchestra, Lovers Electric and others.

His track 'Smash It' featured in the Channel 4 comedy series 'Spaced', by Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson.

He still plays in the Bentley Rhythm Ace collective.
