Biography

Gvla (or gula) is gluttony and Ira is wrath.
“One was chosen as a praise to the pleasures of life, and the other is for us related to the
shameless continual rise of fascism and war in the world.”
Gvla was formed in 2019 by Filious (strings, growls) and Hellzabet (drums) in Bremen, Germany.
Originally from Mexico and Portugal, they met in the Summer of 2019 in between beers and shows. In February 2020, GVLA performed the first live show just before the pandemic hit.
They used the isolation to build their home studio: the Caverna. The first (self-titled) release happened in the Summer of 2021. 100 cassettes were sold out during the 2022 shows. The band has DIY CDS available at shows. One year past, and the second round of recordings started. GVLA self-released the second full length in December 2022. Both releases were mixed and mastered by Daniel (https://www.instagram.com/laplagesound/).
The concept of the art and lyrics is mostly linked to the thematic of the seven deadly sins.
