Biography
Gay Ghost are an American rock quartet formed in Portland, Oregon in 2010 by Joe Mormann (lead vocals/guitar) and Geoff Schlemm (drums/vocals). Starting as just a duo, it didn't take long for them to start making demo recordings in their basement, collaborating on old and new songs. Soon after, bass player Sofi McKenzie joined, and they began playing live shows as a trio. In the summer of 2011 the best of their basement demos were released by Portland's Bladen County Records. The following year they recorded a full length album in the same basement. Digital copies of this self-titled album, as well as their 2011 demos, are now available to download at BandCamp and SoundCloud. Cassettes and CDs are coming soon. The band, now with second guitarist M̶a̶t̶t̶ ̶F̶o̶l̶e̶y̶ Scott Wray, are playing shows in Portland and surrounding towns. They are putting together songs for a new release to promote on their upcoming west coast tour in August 2013.
