I like this album. Gene used this album as opportunity to go back to his roots I think. Beatles inspired songs, played acoustic and electric guitar instead of bass guitar (as he originally did). When you wish upon a star has strong personal meaning to Gene. That's why he put it here.

Even Dennis DeYoung would think this album is wimpy. "When You Wish Upon A Star" obliterated any notion that Gene had any balls, integrity, or rock and roll anywhere in his fat, bloated, plastic-surgeried-up carcass. Shite like "Mr. Make Believe" is mawkish tripe at its very worst. This is the sound of an awkward dork sitting on his mom's couch trying to sound like the Beatles, but failing miserably. The warbly strings on this album are like a blubbery whale struggling to beach itself rather than suffer another second of the treacly ocean of self-importance it's drowning in, and Gene had everyone from Cher (UGH) to Lassie (not much of a journey from Cher to a dog, I know) bark, play, and fart on this, as though using better artists as human shields would deflect criticism of its utter failure. Gene sucks. Come and count the ways at www.KissAWOL.com
