Biography
At times described as an angry Failure on downers or similar to Swans on speed, Gholas sound is very rhythm based with subtle hints of melody amidst the harsh noises and high volumes that they utilize.
Gholas aim is to assault the audience with what is initially abrasive sounding music while at the same time offering those that can take that initial onslaught multi layered and textured pieces of music. Their songs are harsh down tuned blasts of sound that scratch the surface of unhealthy obsessions with the writings of Philip K. Dick, Frank Herbert, and other works of literature and cinema.
The New Jersey based quartet released their first EP, "Here I Am, Here Is Infinity" in 2008, and it is available for free download here: http://gholas.bandcamp.com/album/here-i-am-here-is-infinity
In November 2010 they released their first full length, Загадка, which was recorded by Joe Smiley at Red Planet Sound and was mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, OLD). Art for the release was provided by Drew Speziale (Circle Takes The Square).
