it's not as ambitious as Demon Days, Plastic Beach or Song Machine, but still it is one of my fav things Damon has ever done and one of my fav Gorillaz albums. it has a nice vibe, as well as good, emotional moments. also some of Damon's best lyrics are on this thing.

The first few Gorillaz albums were as good as they were because they were produced by someone else. This one was not. It's not very good.

So, so much better than Humanz. Yet lacking in the excitement and originality which that album carried at its peaks - which overall I think is for the best given that same creativity ended up producing such unbelievable lows as 'Momentz'. Overall this album feels like a safer Damon Albarn solo release rather than a Gorillaz one; we asked for 2D but got Albarn. There are certain tracks which almost mirror parts of Everyday Robots, but there are spots where you get that nebulous Gorillaz thematic sound like in Lake Zurich, or even the opener. Decent album but too safe, which is both its crux and saviour.

Boring album. I sure miss the days when they had style and didn't rely so heavily on R&B sounds.
