Boardface was the first album released by Gotye, released February 2003. The album, which primarily uses samples for its tracks, is a collection of songs he had created over the past few years after his band Downstares had dissolved. The album was originally self-released before it would be picked up by the label Lucky Numbers.
The tracks on Boardface were originally featured on his self released album, "Gotye", which was created to send out to radio stations to make a name for himself. Triple J enjoyed the songs and decided to play them on their stations - that's when a label, Lucky Numbers, found out about him and decided to release Boardface under their label once it was complete. Most of the music on the album "Gotye" was used for Boardface, however 3 songs, Riding The Pumpkin Home, (2nd Generation Dub) Lullaby & Eighties Bonanza (Stadium Jam) would go unused and instead be replaced with 7 new songs, The Only Thing I Know, Wonder Why You Want Her, Out Of My Mind, Here in This Place, Waiting For You, Noir Excursion and Board With This Game.
The song The Only Thing I Know would be remastered and re-released on the 2006 album Like Drawing Blood.
