I broke up the song into 11 different tracks between 4-9 minutes long, where each can stand on its own. Track start times are as follows: 0:00, 6:46, 11:27, 16:20, 21:39, 27:12, 32:43, 37:53, 44:25, 51:16.

Very interesting. Your division on occasion lines up with the 10 sections into which I carved this album. Ten is a nice round number for metal albums, and their lengths are pretty varied (2:38 is the shortest, 10:51 the longest). My starts are 0:00, 6:45, 11:19, 17:59, 21:52, 32:43, 37:25, 44:22, 52:40, 55:18.

We definitely had some similarities--nearly all of them are within 30 seconds of each other. It's nice to know that others have experimented with breaking the song apart, as part of me thought that it would be considered blasphemy. I ended up cutting back from 11 to 10, as I had the last track start at 55:18 like you did. It made the ending track just a little more epic, and I'm a sucker for epic.

The part with the female vocals is terrible and the second half is nowhere near as good as the first, but still an awesome song.

Agreed Sir. Those female vocals are horrible and also the reason I threw their first album in the proverbial bin

It's just... wow. Totally mindblowing and breathtaking, with stunning melodies and riffing, the sixty minutes are gone within a wink.

Didn't appreciate these vocals nearly enough on the first listen, this is a HUGE step up from their first album! Love the death metal touches and symphonic parts.

I personally love the whole song, especially the buildup from the insufferably amazing(!) part, especially the guitar solo following it. ABout hating babies and the screams in the song, the album was largely inspired by the death of the frontman's daughter and the birth of his son.

I see I'm not the only eprson that takes issue with the middle section...it sounds like rejected Peter Gabriel/Yanni material. As for the rest of the song, amazing flow and a really good delivery of the dark theme.

Just made it through the "insufferable" section. I don't see what the big deal is. I will say I think the vocals got a little cringe-worthy on those sustained high notes towards the end, but it wasn't that bad. I think it was a fitting break. Then again this is my first listen to this band. I will say that they've managed to sum up a number of the reasons I love this kind of metal thus far. Definitely a fan.

Now you imagine a concert with this song. It's not necessary another song. (Not that I am complaining)

@dragons94: Sure, there are a lot. Try Edge of Sanity's "Crimson". It's 40 minutes long.

This is a great song and all (the 15 minutes I've heard of it), but I don't think having one hour long one track albums will get them much appeal to casual music fans. Not all casual music fans listen to pop either. I hope they keep the sound and choose to separate the tracks so getting a sample of a first band doesn't quite feel tedious though, definite talent.

This song kicks ass. I wish more prog bands would make 1 hour songs, it's so nice not to have to worry about something bad popping up on shuffle for an hour lol. First time I heard this song I was super baked and it was messing with me bad especially towards the end with the lady screaming. And the length was messing with my sense of time.
