Biography
the closest thing we can get to an "official" biography, taken directly from Lisa Brokaw's Instagram profile. In her own words:
«The first conversation of any length that I ever had with Emma was shortly before watching @corbezzoloband open for Juliana Hatfield at Ace of Cups last April. Emma talked about wanting to learn how to play drums, I talked about still playing the same Stratocaster I got for my 13th birthday, and we both talked about how hard Marie Corbo shreds on bass. The night ended with Emma and I geeking out to Marie about how good Corbezzolo’s set was and making loose plans to “jam” mainly as a fun way for us both to practice.
8 months later, I found myself in a moldy storage unit recording live demos with Emma and Marie while Adam Hardy let the tape run and patiently waited through our dumb conversations between songs. An hour before we started recording, I found out that my Grandpa had passed away that morning. The process was an exhausting blur as I tried to wrangle my brain into an appropriately dark, but not too dark, space. Somehow we managed to get through 7 songs without yelling, crying, or having an asthma attack as we inhaled mold spores.
I have a bad habit of referring to Grunge Dad as a “joke band” only because it feels somehow too easy and fun to be real. I’m shocked by every opportunity we get to play a show with people I respect and admire and until my brain allows me to feel deserving and worthy, I apologize for my unyielding self-deprecation on and off stage.»
