Biography

As former host of the Gummy Soul show on the now defunct Nashville radio station WRVU, Wally Clark spun rare 1960 & 70’s soul on his popular weekly radio program. Eventually morphing the concept into a multifaceted music platform, Gummy Soul now serves as a Hip-Hop group, production studio and boutique record label operated by the former radio host.

After releasing a handful of well received projects, Gummy Soul earned its first hit in 2011 with Amerigo Gazaway’s Fela Kuti/De La Soul inspired mashup album, Fela Soul. With over 500,000 combined plays/downloads to date, Fela Soul gained praise from outlets including NPR, MTV, BoingBoing and The Source, before landing on the top 5 of both NPR and Soul Train’s year end “Best of 2011” lists. In Feb. 2012, Clark released, Lovers Lane, a Doo Wop inspired hip hop album showcasing the artist’s clever wit and knack for storytelling. Later that year, Gazaway released, Bizarre Tribe, a mashup of the eccentric West Coast rap group, The Pharcyde, with reinterpretations of samples used by a Tribe Called Quest. The album was positively spotlighted by the L.A.Times, New York Magazine’s Vulture and saw over 30,000 downloads in its first two weeks of release.

In September of 2013, Gummy Soul released Still Infinity, an exclusive remix album, using acapellas from Souls of Mischief"s 93 'Till Infinity.
