"Shackler’s Revenge" (which had its premiere on Rock Band 2) opens with a deep-voiced Axl gradually building towards his characteristic yowl, and features guitar noodling from their guitarist Buckethead and Bumblefoot. The song’s low crunch sticks with the album’s long-stated industrial leanings, and again, layers upon layers of Axl's create a particular sort of demented choir.

Written by: The song was written by Axl Rose, Brian Carroll aka Buckethead, Caram Costanzo, Brian Mantia aka Brain and Pete Scaturro.
Written in: The music was written in or before 2003. At least parts of the lyrics were written after April 2007, as Axl Rose stated the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre was an inspiration for the song.

Parts of the song were re-done after Buckethead left the band. Ron confirmed that he recorded the solos and bridges of the song.
