Biography

Guzz is an electronic music producer/DJ based in Beijing. He is co- founder of Electronic music collective Do Hits. He has been active on China’s electronic music scene since 2008. From early Techno/Acid to cross-genre nowadays, he had been making breakthroughs on both music production and DJing.

Guzz first released 2 EPs, Subway and Across the Shadow, on Shanshui Records, which were among the very few Acid/Techno releases in China at that time. Then he released the unique From Desert to Moon on the alternative label 87 Fei 87, representing his experiment on genres. From 2015, a brand-new Guzz sound blending traditional Chinese music and Club music, started appearing on Do Hits’ compilations, drawing great attention from oversea. His music has been played on world’s most important electronic music websites and radios, including Rinse FM / Boiler Room / 22 Tracks / Radar Radio / NTS.

In October, 2016, Guzz released full-length album An Elephant in the Jungle on Do Hits, and the MV “Temple Encounter”, visualized by Swedish artist AUJIK. The album combines traditional music from Southern China, SouthEastern Asian with Club bass. It received support from domestic websites like Wangyi, Letv, Echo, Noisey, Wooozy. The music video is recommended by the surging Asian culture website 88rising.

Apart from producing/DJing, Guzz is also involved in organization of Do Hits Parties, producer salons, and record publishing.
