If London Calling didn't exist, I would call this the greatest punk album of all time. But in terms of sheer innovation, conceptual pieces and songwriting, this is still brilliant and could easily be the greatest punk ever came to. Everything about this just screams perfection.

Perfect really, from start to finish. What these gentlemen were able to do with this one is just unbelievable. The riffs, the solos, the choruses, vocals, drumming, the songwriting in general, the rough sound in it, yet with beautiful tunes in it. I listened to this one extensively and I believe I will for the rest of my life, thank you, Hüsker Dü!

wtf this is from 1984? I have a large library of albums, and I had knew nothing about the album when I just listened. I checked this wiki and saw 1984, and was amazed. This album was so ahead of its time. The production does not sound dated to me!

This is one of those albums that only gets better every time I hear it. I've loved it for years, but instead of getting tired of it or thinking it's less amazing as I'm exposed to new music and my tastes expand, etc., my esteem for it just continues to grow. And then when you consider the circumstances surrounding its creation, it becomes an even more mind-boggling masterpiece. God I love this album.

Monumental album. They were on top of their game here. It's like one of The Who's concept albums as performed by a ripping Hardcore band. Definitely the high point of Husker Du's career and one of the high points of Hardcore as a whole.

Sarcasm? 'Cause if not... I don't understand how anyone could find Pink Turns to Blue, Turn On the News, Somewhere, Standing by the Sea, and Never Talking to You Again boring.

Didn't understand why Hüsker Du were so legendary - until today. Good God, what a savage masterpiece.

This is so brilliant. Pretty much got me into punk music which I never thought would happen. I don't think epic has ever applied to an album better. Still can't quite grasp side 2 though. It's kind of the necessary part where everything just breaks down.
