HM SURF is a producer originating from Oslo, Norway, whose true identity remains undisclosed. The moniker "HM SURF" pays homage to the ability to surf outside of battle in the Pokémon games, reflecting his affinity for the popular franchise.

On January 8, 2015, HM SURF's first track on Soundcloud, titled "antiodote," marked the beginning of his musical journey. During his early career, many of his tracks featured Pokémon references in their titles and artwork, adding a unique touch to his compositions.
