Haikara was a Finnish progressive rock band, formed in 1971. The band's original sound has been compared to bands such as King Crimson and Van der Graaf Generator and to some extent Tasavallan Presidentti.
Haikara's first album, Haikara, came out in 1972, and it has since became a classic progressive rock album.

Later on Vesa Lattunen, Haikara's heart and soul made several albums; Gaefar (1974), Iso Lintu (1976), Haikara IV: Domino (1998) and Tuhkamaa (2001) with various people playing the instruments, mainly Jan Schaper playing the sax and Tommi Mäkinen on the bass.

Lattunen wrote, composed and sang all the songs except on the debut Haikara, on which Vesa "Wellu" Lehtinen wrote the songs and also was the lead singer.

Haikara came to an end on March 2005 when Vesa Lattunen died in his home.
