Deathconsciousness is the debut studio album by Connecticut rock duo Have a Nice Life, formed by Dan Barett and Tim Macuga, released on January 24, 2008, via Enemies List Home Recordings. Recorded independently by the two band members on a budget of less than $1,000, and spending from 2002 - 2007 (5 years) writing the songs. Deathconsciousness was released as a double album; the first disc is entitled "The Plow That Broke the Plains" and the second is entitled "The Future". The original cover art features a darkened version of the painting "The Death of Marat", painted by Jacques-Louis David in 1793.

The original master recordings of Deathconsciousness were unfortunately lost during a hard drive crash, leaving Barett and Macuga with only 192kbps MP3 files.

The album received little to no attention from professional music publications upon its release, but spread through internet message boards, memes and websites like 4chan. In 2019, Kerrang! noted that it "quickly became a viral hit amongst internet communities like 4chan's music board /mu/, Sputnikmusic, music rating websites Album of The Year, and Rate Your Music. Aided by their relative anonymity and Deathconsciousness' ominous liner notes, which described a fictional medieval cult that worshipped God's murderer, Dan and Tim quickly became the stuff of internet myth".
