Biography

Hayesville was born in Vaksala, Sweden, and grew up in a remote house in the forest where he learned to play the electric organ at an early age. He left Sweden for the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium in the 90s. This was where he sang in indie rock band Gulbla, catching the attention of journalist and impressario Anik Honoré, of Joy Division fame. The experience with the band notorious for a single chaotic gig at a Christmas party at the Art Academy in 1995, did not however lead to a record, and it wouldn't be until the year 2000 in Stockholm that he would be released on cd for the first time, as the glam rock alien in Nasa coverall singing in silver make-up in the Konstfack project Starboy. In 2005 he started making electronic music as Minutka Square, toured with a dancer in Scandinavia and Germany with a performance that saw the singer change into different military uniforms and pour yoghurt over his head and the audience. In 2006 he released the EP The Price Of Oil and 2008 the full length album Motherland on his own label Minutka Square Records.
In 2016 he started the acoustic project Hayesville, with the first EPs "A House" and "Houses" released 2017 and 2018 respectively. The ten song album A Town was released 2019. Hayesville plays all instruments on his tracks, including guitars, synthesizer, baritone ukulele, banjolele, toy piano, and nyckelharpa.
Live he has performed as a duo, teaming up with jazz guitarist Max Hansel on bass and electric guitar.
