I will always remember the first time I heard this album, and I will forever curse the fact that I can never hear it that very same way ever again. The first listen, within the first minute of Biblical Violence, it was as if a sonic jackhammer had begun to chisel away at my sanity and mind...but slowly, as last few notes of Been A Long Time Cousin soared through the landscape it had been creating in my mind, the destruction ceased. And now, with the putty that my brain had now become, the rest of the album was free to sculpt and mold the soft matter that was my mind into the most beautiful shapes and designs one could imagine. And while I may never again be able to fully hear this album in the same manner, I will continue to try, day in and day out, in hope that one day I will achieve that same heightened experience. I guess in short, you could say that this album is a fucking masterpiece.

is this the first thing Hella released? It's amazing how what i beleive to be a single coil guitar, and Mr Hill's tiny little drumset sounds so full.

To my ears this sounds something like By the End of Tonight (which itself is by no means lacking in erraticism) in an amphetamine-induced psychosis or hypomania. Tentatively brilliant.
