Helsingfors were an instrumental band, formed in late 2008 from the ashes of London post-rock group, From The Sky.
They then when on a permanent hiatus for different reasons;
Dan decided to follow his dream of being a total dick.
James realised he could make much better music on his own.
Barry moved into a small cave near Costa Del Dagenham.
Alan grew his hair. More.
John had a sex change and there was a 'no girls' policy in the band.
Helsingfors wrote melodious songs that are sort of post-rock, and kind of like some math-rock, but overall are quite hard to classify. Similar acts might include Auto!Automatic!! or By the End of Tonight
'Schematics' is the debut EP from five piece Helsingfors, and is an instrumental post-rock/math rock hybrid, a logical progression from their previous work. Upping the complexity and melodic layering mixed with upbeat, jarring indie-rock, 'Schematics' was recorded primarily as a live band and bursts with the live energy this brings.
