Going though his sonatas as I write this, the man truly had a cold genius that brings warmth in his mind.

Like it or not, the word "classical" has come to mean everything from Vivaldi to Mozart to Tchaikovsky and everything in between. Words change, their meanings evolve, and although you can whine about it all you want, it won't change anything.

They're not idiots. The word has two different meanings. In one sense, "classical" music is erudite European music composed roughly between 1750-1815. In another sense, all erudite European music - or anything within that tradition - is "classical" music. In the first sense, Purcell is not "classical", but baroque. In the second sense, he most certainly is "classical." Now take your smug arrogance and choke on it.
