Biography

Her Blackened Rose was set up in early 2007 as a progression from Clare Webster's earlier project known as 'Rain Child'. Her Blackened Rose was progression, a step forward, in many things including; style, recording quaility, vocal techniques and improvements in songwriting and composition.

A very dark, macabre and almost horroresque type of soundscape began to emerge in the following months of 2007 as writing for 'Intropection' began to take place. This was a 6 track EP which included the tracks 'Beyond the Veil', 'Alone in the Dark', 'Descending Dreams', 'Whispers', 'Breathe' and 'Closure'. This was a concept album based upon the artists own personal journey through depression and suicidal thoughts. In mid 2007, the christian / animal activist label Mannequin Oddio Media (now known as KultureShift) became interested in Her Blackened Rose's activities. At the end of 2007, 'Introspection' was released unoffcially as a free download which can still be downloaded form LastFM now.

Just before Christmas 2007, Clare was approached by a german industrial/electronica artist called Ekki Endorphin and was asked to collaborate on a piece with himself and an american artist, Mark Moffre. This was when the track 'Solace' was born. Then again in early 2008, Her Blackened Rose started work on new material, but asked Ekki Endorphin to collaborate again on the track 'On Another's Sorrow' based upon the poem by William Blake. Neither of these tracks were intended to be put on an album.

Her Blackened Rose became dormant for a while, mainly due to an evauation of personal beliefs, but came out of the ashes once again in the beginning of 2009. Again, a new direction came with many more ideas as Clare began to work on her debut album 'A Gallery of Misery'. Taking influences from many different genre's like doom, ambient black metal, folk and classical, a new sound began to emerge which encorporated all of these influences.

'A Gallery of Misery' is still a work in progress but will hopefully be released in the autumn of 2010.
