Love the idea, but the production is too rough for me...would definitely love 'em if they weren't so shredded, I recommend Aeternam to fans of Hevein. Similar approach, but with more oriental touches and melodic death metal elements added!

The End... Hevein have decided to disband indefinitely. The decision comes after many months of consideration but under the current circumstances it has become impossible to continue as a band. So, even though we came close to finishing our second album “Gentle Anarchy” it will sadly remain unfinished. We ended up with 4 completed songs (V, Spineless, Gentle Anarchy and Nor), 1 kick ass video (Nor) and edited drum tracks for 5 other songs (Terms of Abuse, The Bullsrun, A Damn Good Thrashing, Get Born Again and Mother Earth/Father Sun). We also have a few instrumental tracks ready for this album. We would personally love to thank the people that purchased our material off our BANDCAMP site. The 125 purchases created a revenue of 542€ that directly funded the recording of the drums for the 5 additional songs on “Gentle Anarchy”. We will continue to sell our music via BANDCAMP and if, at some stage we receive enough revenue to continue recording, we will do so.

Chillvie is correct in saying that the problem is a "utter marketing failure" but that is not the only problem. Other major problems are lack of funds, lack of proper management with sufficient contacts, lack of being noticed by the media and free online music. Marketing is enormously expensive, so is everything else if done professionally. Hevein sent (on multiple occasions) "press" releases to dozens of websites with over 90% of them not publishing it. Why? Probably because they don't have a press agent with good contacts. These guys cost money. Like thousands of other bands, Hevein is a needle in a haystack of needles. Add the horrendous state of the music industry into the mix and this is the end result. Companies will not "try" any more with bands of this size because they will either loose money or it'll take years before they see profit. Sites likes this one (spotify, youtube ect) pay a ridiculously small amounts of royalties to bands if any and are also part of the problem.

I am absolutely sure that they're current problems are mostly the result of utter marketing failure. As far as I'm concerned, the EP is well produced, well written and Nor is just otherworldly. There have to be at least thousands of people who would really enjoy it. But Hevein don't manage to spread the news to metal news sites, social networks etc. Even though I bought the Nor single and the EP and am a subscriber to their newsletter, I completely missed the fundraising attempt you just mentioned, because there was no notification of any sorts. All of this is probably not the band's fault since they may have enough trouble getting by, but it is not gonna work like this.

I think it's even OK to share it, at least it would, if you would spend at least SOME money for your favorite bands (especially the smaller ones, just for letting them alive). Last year i bought my fav-albums original, again, for roundabout 200€. This is nothing. That's less than 15€ a month for one of the main things in my life: music. I even feel kinda ashamed for not paying more. And i know you're really into music too, just because you stranded here. That's enough to know, music belongs to you.And those musicians from Hevein - i shortened the quote - spoke true words: "We do not do this for the money... we would gladly give it away for free if in return we got: [...] -Free studio time -Free producers/engineers [...] Free video staff Free accomodation, transport and food. But that will never happen and if none of this (stuff that is necessary to professionally produce music) is free, why is the end result free? " Think about it. BUY THEIR ALBUM!

I'd like to hear a new album. but i'm not really sure if this will happen. First album was awesome. But it looks like they're in hard financial trouble. There was a link, i've seen just yet, where you could fund the band's studio costs, they wanted like 9000€, at least 7000€, and became 160€. Of course one does not need to fund them. But at least you should buy their album. They also wrote a letter to all of you downloading but not buying their music, describing how this put them into debt and that they cannot really concentrate on making music. Sad to see, this somehow does not work. But it's hard to stay alive as a band, i learned it the hard way. Just do yourself a favor and BUY THE FUCKING ALBUM IF YOU LIKE IT. I mean .. i also have a lot of music what i didn't bought.

If hevein loose listeners because they read the bio and then leave without even listening to the music... it is completely their own loss. People can get that sub genre info from the tags section. It's full of facinating tags that I'm sure people will find of use. For eg. "Hot Scandinavians" and "Gothic Rock"... fantastic! What other bands do or do not do is completely irrelevant to this band and if others want to explain to people that they sound like metal with a Commodore 64, more power to 'em. You are right in saying Last.fm is about finding new music but not all bands are the same and not all bands want to be the same because sometimes knowing too much about certain thing can destroy your perception of it. Hevein would rather have their listeners use their imagination to make up their opinion of this band rather than have it spelled out to them in black and white. And if you really really really want to know something about hevein… just ask.

@heivain: Also have a look at [artist]Machinae Supremacy[/artist]'s bio on the genre issue, they have a very unique genre situation like (or even more so then) Hevein (but ignore the "sid-metal" tag, making up genres or tags isn't the point) and yet their bio gives a great indication of what type of music they are. It is a big bio with a lot of potentially useless information, only the first part is displayed; the part that matters for someone who wants a quick introduction to the band and wants to know whether they are worth listening to.

@heivain: You're thinking of it from the wrong point of view, Last.fm is all about discovering new music. So say a user comes to your page, you want to briefly captivate them into listening to a song right? Telling them you're a "rock/Metal" band doesn't help them decide whether or not they want to even bother listening to a song, neither does the rest of the bio (ie. telling them what albums you have/the lineup) and so you will often lose a potential listener/fan. So you don't fit into one genre? Most bands don't, why not change the first line to something more generic then, like "Hevein is a metal/rock band with elements of thrash metal and symphonic metal", yes you have more sub-genres then that but list the main ones, no one cares if only one of your songs dips into alternative rock. Without even a quick indication of even what music your band plays your bio really is useless. Plus if the bio wasn't so pathetic (take a look at other bands pages), not as people would try to edit it.

@keef08: Well it is short but it's also to the point. Read the bio again because it tells you more than what genre they are. Bios are for the most part useless and pointless anyway. And if a band does not want to tell you what there favourite pizza is and the origins of the band name then by george they have that right. Also people puting this band into the absurd genre of Symphonic Metal are a tad foolish. This band plays so many sub genres of music that listing them all would take up most of the bios space. Is the song New Hope "Symphonic Thrash Metal"? no. So how can it be labeled STMetal? It's just silly. Labeling music in the first place is futile and making up silly sub genres is just as silly as having old photos of Hevein with people who are not even in the band anymore. There was false and mis-leading info on the bio, that's why it was... corrected.

@heivain: Well it's short, pointless, doesn't tell us anything about the band other then the genre: "rock/Metal", could you get an anymore generic and useless genre description? The albums, which can already be seen on the page and the lineup, which is now less informative then before. Wiki's are meant for collaboration not to portray one view on how something should be set out, don't get me wrong if any of the information was false, then correct it, but don't just destroy someone else's work.
