There are at least two bands that use the name Hover.

1) Hover is the musical project of Matt Abajian, began as a home-schooled high school student in a Houston, TX suburb. The band has had a fluid lineup over the years of its existence, but currently performs as both a quartet and quintet. Abajian has relocated to Austin, TX where he studies music composition in tandem with writing and performing as Hover. On February 11th, 2022, Hover released their first compilation It's Been So Long Since I've Felt New on both Bandcamp and compact disc. The record was compiled and edited by Tom Jennings, who also wrote extensive liner notes for the release, drawing comparison to both Buddhist sutras and postmodernist montage.

2) Hover was formed in 1999 by film composer and music producer Billy Mallery when he realized that an entire body of his work had a unique sound of its own. He calls the project "a euphoric groove exploration", and continues to develop it between film and record projects. Guest performers include Azam Ali, Domonic Dean Breaux, Dan Lavery, Saïda Loyal, Dito Montiel and Cameron Stone.

Albums released by Hover include Possible Bliss, Dronscapes and Haunted World (a dark soundscape designed solely for Halloween). Currently Mallery is producing the new album Shamanic Tendencies, due to be released soon.

Songs by Hover can be heard in the feature films Devil's Highway and Ilegales.
