A thrash metal band that formed in Erfurt, Germany. They were formed in 1989. Before they established themselves, they were known as Insanity. It is not known when they went by the name Insanity. The band consisted of Gerte Mad (vocals), Ralle Mad (guitars), Silvio Mad (guitars), Mirco Mad (bass) and Olaf Mad (drums). Howlin' Mad only released one full-length album called Insanity in 1990. The album was released by West Virginia Records. Sabina Classen of Holy Moses makes a guest appearance on the album, she's does guests vocals on Drunk Till Emptiness. Their lyrical themes included politics, death and hate. They disbanded after their only full-length album and it is not known when they disbanded. West Virginia Records was the last label they were signed to.
