Biography

I Phoenix have just released their debut EP ‘Cause and Effect‘ which was followed by a very well received Irish tour. The EP was recorded in Temple Lane Studio’s by John Henry and features four new tracks. The EP is available online as a free download and on cd from the bands website.

Since their beginnings in September 2008, the band’s sound has been compared to acts as diverse as modern rock act Biffy Clyro and alternative founders Joy Division and The Cure, described by IrishUnsigned.com as "mesmerising and in a class of their own". Early on the band were selected to play to a packed Sugar Club for the 2009 IMRO showcase, a cluas.com review described the show as "having a powerful and intense sound, they acted as a refreshing break from effects-heavy laptop bands. With gutsy climaxes and well-developed endings, the band appeared to be a tight and talented rock outfit".

I Phoenix started to get regular airplay on national radio which led the band to more gigs around the country, one of their favourites being with Jape in Limerick in April 2009. They were invited by RTE 2FM to record a live session in the famous studio 8 for Dan Hegarty in June 2009. The session has aired many times on 2fm since its recording.

The band were chosen in October 2009 from 100's of hopefuls, by Hot Press and the Tisch School of the Arts, New York, to make a video for one of their songs 'Night Sparks'. The video was shot in Dublin under the direction of the talented Bostonian Andrew Yip, receiving great reviews and a rapturous applause at the Hot Press Launch night in The Sugar Club. The band was also in the Hope for 2010 category of The Meteor Awards in February. The Video will also feature on Dave Fannings upcoming series of 'The 11th Hour' on RTE.

'Cause and Effect’ is currently available for free download from the bands website. The band are currently writing and recording the follow up to Cause and Effect which should be available this October..
