Biography

Traditionally you will come across the „next big thing“ in New York, London or sometimes even Berlin. IN GOLDEN TEARS on the other hand call the far north of Germany their home. They arise from the same place where The Beatles once built up their reputation – the city of Hamburg.

Resisting hindering influences such as Europe’s famous red-light district and the local obsession with football, the four barely 20-year-olds managed to shape their dark and deep sound into perfection.

After receiving critically acclaimed reactions from bloggers all over the world, IN GOLDEN TEARS are set to play their first UK tour in April following the release of their debut single.

„Urban Emotions“, produced by Marius Lauber (Beat!Beat!Beat!) in Cologne and mastered by Andrew Heppner (Bravestation) in Toronto, has already awaken interest amongst various renowned independent labels. The song will be available worldwide through Humming Records (via Rough Trade distribution) from April 1st.

With a cutting, melodic guitar sound which lives up to the names of Joy Division and Interpol, IN GOLDEN TEARS spark an entire firework of melancholy. Pumping basslines chase echoing drum sounds and fragile synthesizer fogs across the room.

It is no surprise, that Patrick H. Kowalewski (Vocals, Guitar), Mats Dörband (Bass), Patrick Behrens (Vocals, Guitar) and Moritz de Chambord (Drums) have already gained quite some recognition.

Alongside the praising international press reactions, IN GOLDEN TEARS were voted Myspace’ artist of the week, opened at Dockville Festival and shared the stage with the likes of The Drums, Villagers and Flashguns – at that time still under the moniker Secrets.

Following the single release and UK tour, IN GOLDEN TEARS are preparing to gig throughout their homeland, looking at recording a full lenth album later in the year. There is lots more to await from Hamburgs „next big thing“.
