I love this band. But I just can't understand how they formed, made one of the most melancholic, monolithic and gorgeous albums of all time, and then stripped away all of that and never returned.

First time I listened to it I was really tired and multiple hours into a Valheim session with my mates, and I didn't think too much of it, but respected it. I only recall Obstacle 1 and Roland sticking out to me at that point (that outro is a jam) and found Paul Banks' vocals a bit difficult to like. I listened again a few days later on my own time and it left a better impression on me but never ended up listening again for months. When I ended up returning to it my mental state at the time was not exactly great and everything on this album just sorta clicked into place. Really appreciate Banks' vocals on this now and have always found something new to enjoy every listen

I really enjoy their music. But, honestly? I was very disappointed when I heard them play live
