First side is better than the title track. The title track is highly overrated. The first side of this is some of the best stuff they recorded.

A side is rather a setup of the mighty B side, the original psychedelic anthem. It captures some concepts that define Iron Butterfly (heavy riffing, bass, emphasis on Ingle's organ) but also has some weak songs never performed live, e.g. "Most Anything You Want", "Flowers And Beads".

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida would not have become the best-selling record if the title track had been overrated. It's just a freaky thing for that time and now it sounds no worse.

I think it's way better than the title track. That song was always overrated to me. The first side makes the record.

Right? I always look forward to this first side of the album more than the title track.

Listening to the original vinyl now. The first side is excellent! What a talented bunch of guys. Lee Dorman, in particular, is such an incredible bassist.

Keep on truckin' guys! Have you heard the beat of "1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, Lets' Go" of Ron Bushy's solo drum on In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida ? @ Original LP Only please.1967.

I see most of the people here only listen to their music through last.fm, which is a shame, because I bought the LP today, got it into iTunes, and the 17 minute version is simply, well, as Lise90 puts it; epic.

MojaveRacer208--you're right, this is NOT the tracklisting for the original LP (their best, btw)--and there is no better version of In-A-Gada-Da-Vida than the one found on that LP...in other words, the original 17 minute version, complete w/ Ron Bushy's awesome drum solo. Why can't we have that version to listen to, last.fm? Come on, after 40+ years, how about cutting us a little slack and uploading it for all of us?

I want the REAL 17+ minute Inna Gadda Da Vida. The tracks listed here for this album are not the same as those on my CD or my original vinyl LP. It would be nice if we could choose which version of a song we wanted. Many versions of many tunes are available. Perhaps to control their costs, LAst chooses to limit us. But who chooses them?

as far as i remember genesis' "supper's ready" is available in full length (~25min) so that can't be the reason
