J Mascis, Kevin Shields, and Robert Pollard? Did I die and do something to deserve to be in heaven?

Surprised there aren't more shouts about this one. I agree with gonzeaux that this is a really strong album that measures up favorably with much of Dinosaur Jr's output (which I consider uniformly good); J's written some nice songs and just as importantly if not more so for those of us who worship the man's guitar playing, he's also come up with some beautiful tones, solos and riffs. Stylistically the record is quite similar to most of the 90s-era DJ ones, with a professional, clear mix that allows you to hear all of the instruments and has good low end and some punchy sounding drums (J also drums on this one, btw, and he does a nice job on the kit as well), and songs range from mellow "slacker rock" poppy rockers to harder hitting walls-of-guitar-noise 60s Psych Rock/Space Rock style numbers, which are the ones I tend to like the best simply because for me that's where J's guitar playing really shines. The title track, "Sameday," "Waistin" and "Ammaring" are my highlights.
