Biography

James Lee Baker is a Singer/Songwriter originally from Amarillo, Texas, currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. As Erika Lee from Festival4Stars puts it – "This is, to me, what the Singer/Songwriter genre is all about…down to earth, meaningful lyrics, gentle, easy on the ear melody, clear concise and well delivered emotive vocals."

James Lee is currently in the process of releasing an upcoming EP of songs and preparing for performances in 2015. Chris Johnson, former co-producer for The Fray’s debut album will be heading up the engineering and production for this EP; Chris has worked with James Lee in the past on James’ previous full-length independent release, Something You’ve Left Behind. In his upcoming song The Day I Said Goodbye, James echoes the recounting of life’s unpredictable events by saying "I’ve tasted many victories that lingered bittersweet and some that left me longing for a brilliant defeat".

In March of 2010, James Lee’s song Independence Day was awarded Song of the Month at Songwriter Universe, produced by YouTube sensation Tyler Ward. In May of the same year, the album received the Expose Yourself Song Contest award at ReviewPosse.com: "A great new release and a ton of enjoyable and completely listenable tracks you won’t want to miss".

Between 2010 and 2012, James Lee collaborated with celebrity photographer and cinematographer Sean Hagwell from Denver to produce several top-notch music videos. An upcoming video with Sean is in the works and will be accompanying the new EP in 2015.

James Lee is focused on growing a fan base in the Singer/Songwriter genre and Folk scenes and is passionate about creating high-quality studio experiences with his collaborative colleagues to record maturing, catchy songs that echo influences from artists like Matt Wertz, Dave Barnes, Ben Rector, Ellis Paul, and John Gorka. Long-term, his goal is to find an experienced team to help with establishing his presence as a successful songwriter. Between intimate acoustic performances, James Lee hopes to distribute his material to TV, radio, retail, and other royalty-based exposures while attending and performing at music festivals, songwriting circles, and sponsored events.
