Biography
Janne Önnerud (born June 15, 1948 in Enskede) is a Swedish pop singer.
Önnerud started his career as a drummer in the Hounds pop group during the 1960s. He also appeared as a singer on some of Hounds' songs, including The Lion Sleeps Tonight, which was a Top 10 hit. His solo career began in 1968 when he was touring with Telstarsparaden, a package show that also included Tommy Körberg, Eleanor Bodel and Björn Skifs. He had a solo hit with Love House in 1969, which ended at the Swedish top . In 1970 he started the dance band Janne Önnerud & gänget which later changed its name to Janne Önnerud & Co . During the 1970s, the group had two big hits in the Swedish charts, "Är du min älskling än " in 1977 and "Tommy" in 1979 . He participated in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1984 with "Nu är jag tillbaks igen", placing in sixth. For three seasons in the 1980s , Önnerud was the host of Svensktoppen, Sweden's hit countdown.
