Jaubi (جو بھی, pronounced “Jaw-Bee”) is an instrumental quartet from Lahore, Pakistan. The band is named after an Urdu word loosely translated as "whatever/whoever”. Creating whatever sounds good and whatever feels good is the groups guiding principle. They skip around the genres of North Indian Classical music, modal Jazz and Hip-Hop.
The short musical pieces are rooted in structured improvisation. Everything is composed by ear. Nothing is ever written down.
“Whether its electronic or acoustic, its going to be the mind behind the music that is going to make it good and last.” — Bill Evans.
Ali Riaz Baqar - guitar
